Stephens Ministry was introduced in the mid 1980’s to provide a climate of trust and confidentiality when one-on-one contact with a highly trained lay person is needed by anyone trying to cope with threatening situations; i.e., loss of loved ones, loss of job, suicidal tendencies, loneliness or depression, long term or terminal illness, etc. Stephen Ministers receive assignments as care-persons through referrals by the pastors. The pastors and leaders conscientiously strive to match care-giver and care-receiver to promote a positive personal and confidential relationship.
