FAREWELL AND GODSPEED

Pastor Richard Overcash and Robin are leaving Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, and we wish to bid them farewell and Godspeed.

Richard, in Holy Baptism our Lord Jesus Christ received you and made you a member of his Church. For the sake of the Church you were ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament. As an ordained minister, you have been privileged to serve our Lord in the fellowship of the gospel. We give thanks to God for you: for your gifts, for your love and dedication, and for your ministry. God has blessed both you and us in our life together.

Pastor Overcash, on June 1, 1974, you began your ministry in this congregation where you were called: to proclaim God’s Word, to receive new members into the Church of Jesus Christ through Holy Baptism, to announce God’s forgiveness to them, to preach, to teach, and to preside at celebrations of the Lord’s Supper. With the Gospel you have comforted them in times of sickness and trouble, and at the death of loved ones. Sharing their joys and sorrows, you have been important to their life together in the Church of Jesus Christ, and in their service in this community.

We will continue to pray for you and your family and encourage you in your retirement.

Well done, good and faithful servant.
